Exercise Park For Seniors
With the increasing Australian ageing population and an understaffed aged care system, there is a growing need for older people to remain independent for longer. Evergreen Fitness is not only a great solution in relieving the pressure on the aged care system, but also in providing seniors with a better quality of life through physical exercise.
Evergreen Fitness is a fun, social and cost sensitive way in motivating seniors to do just that. It aims to combat the onset of chronic diseases which can often be debilitating and threatening to an older person’s independence.
It is an outdoor exercise park designed to be installed at retirement homes and locals parks and consists of 5 exercise stations placed around a circuit. All stations are designed to have a seated exercise to encourage the practice of the Sit-To-Stand motion because of its high importance to an older person’s independence. Each station also involves more than one other individual to promote socialisation and better relationship building.
The exercises at each station provide unique benefits that carry over into the activities of daily living, which will aid in maintaining independence for older people.
